Uber CEO

Ghostwriting for Uber’s CEO

As one of the most influential leaders in tech, Dara Khosrowshahi exudes charisma. Here’s how I put it into words.

Role: Lead Writer

Capturing a singular voice like Dara’s is no simple task.

But in writing the speech he delivers here, we were able to harness the empathy he uses in everyday language and put it directly into his advocacy for Uber drivers.

The result is a compelling introduction to the many programs and resources available to Uber drivers—including language classes with Rosetta Stone and tuition coverage from Arizona State University—that can help them unlock new skills and a better future.

A personal letter to drivers

Advocating for a new approach to independent work

Role: Lead Writer

This letter was sent to every single driver and delivery person at Uber.

It accompanied an op-ed written in the New York Times, advocating for increased support and benefits for all independent contractors in the United States.

As the author, I was tasked with communicating Uber’s new proposal to give drivers both flexibility and benefits — and change the gig economy forever — all while inhabiting the personal voice of Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi.

Of the ~1 million active drivers in the US, over half of them opened this email.
